ACOUSTICAL ENGINEERING

SOUND MODELING AND ARCHITECTURAL ACOUSTIC DESIGN

We have many years of experience in Acoustic modeling of enclosed or open domains. The owner of Aergistal Consulting has developed in the late 1980’s the mathematical model of sound distribution in closed domains by obtaining the wave solutions as a Fredholm integral type equations with Newmann interior boundary conditions, a model that was later used in a commercial software of acoustic design.

We provide the following design criteria:

  • Calculations of the reverberation times
  • Clarity of signal
  • Dynamic response
  • Intelligibility factors
  • Absorbent materials and their surface/volume distribution
  • Uniformity of sound pressure across the auditorium
  • Sound directivity
We have developed our own engineering software in determining the acoustic responses of rooms, halls and theatres built with audience and tower (for decors/backdrops). The theatres with towers require a different approach as the reverberation times cannot be calculated by Sabine or Eyring formulas because the model itself is based on coupled oscillations between tower and auditorium (the reverberation time in auditorium influences the tower response, which in turn influences the auditorium).

Our equipment comprises of Bruel & Kjaer measuring equipment (Precision SLM, Recording units, Filters). We use software such as EASE 4.x.x; In House Soft; CATT Acoustics for our sound modelling and architectural acoustic design.
